The Neff House at 55 Grass Valley Street Colfax changes hands to Cindy Jacob and Linda Chapman owners of Calamity Jane's Confections and managers of Colfax Theatre. They bought the late 1880s social hub discarding disrepair and plan preservation while expanding Colfax business. Residents praise the move as economic boost for downtown.

A benefit hosted by Trackside Tavern and SKF band and Harry Baumgardner raised 1616 dollars for two families who lost homes in the Stevens Fire. Tina Colon organized raffle contributions from Colfax businesses while a donation box supported the effort. Galen Goding and Debbie Walker expressed gratitude for community help as they recover.

Sierra Nevada Open Water Swim at Orchard Springs Resort drew 120 swimmers with high schoolers leading the field. Jon Huffman-Eddy captured the 1.2 mile title in 26:36.2 while Francis Giuliani won the 2.4 mile open division in 49:15.7. Fatigue fuels two big rig crashes on I-80 near Colfax
Two separate crashes along Eastbound I-80 between Colfax and Truckee involved fatigued drivers. Ruth Marie Bunch of Sacramento fell asleep, ran into the median near Yuba Gap, leaving her uninjured. Hours later Christopher Harris Thomas of Manteca also dozed, veering onto the shoulder near Kingvale, causing a fire and a rescue with a passenger believed inside.
