Fire Weather Watch For Northern California Issued
The National Weather Service in Sacramento ordered a fire weather watch for much of Northern California including the western Sierra slopes from Colfax. Gusty northeast winds up to 30 mph and low humidity push fire danger to extremely high levels. Dry north to northeast winds may persist Friday into the weekend as crews stay on special notice late in the year.

Memorial service for CHS student Julie Reed
Memorial services for Julie Reed will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday October 25 at Sierra Grace Fellowship in Colfax. Reed suffered a seizure on October 4 and died after brain surgery and a coma. Survived by parents Anne and Darrell Reed twin brother Clayton and brothers Brian and Brett. Donations support Sierra Grace Missions for Ensenada children.

Jury remains out 4. Slain officer Bean's killer trial drags on
Family and friends of Sacramento officer Bill Bean Jr. await a jury verdict in the Dundell Wright case. Wright, charged with killing Bean on Feb 9 1999 after a police stop in Del Paso Heights, argues self defense amid a lengthy courtroom delay and a prior felony gun conviction. The trial recessed for deliberations under Superior Court Judge Lloyd G. Connelly as it heads into a second week pending a decision.

Paris Endicott-Chase to move to Colfax theater role
Paris Endicott-Chase, a 12 year old singer and actress, rose to fame after a 11 year old performance on Showtime in Harlem in New York singing Youre All I Need to Get By. She will relocate with her mother Cynthia Jacob to Colfax in November as Jacob takes over Colfax Theater management.
