Colfax High School celebrated homecoming week with floats and fanfare as hundreds supported the court. Meghann Adams and Rex Townsend were named 2004 football homecoming queen and king amid senior and junior royal lines.

Colfax OKs Wastewater Plant EIR Certification
Colfax City Council certified the draft Environmental Impact Report for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project after a 45 day public comment period. The action, taken unanimously, allows the project to proceed to upgrade facilities and raise flow capacity by about 115000 gallons per day, with completion targeted by June 2006 to avoid fines and meet Water Quality Control Board deadlines. The final report notes public input was addressed and outlines discharge quality standards, environmental impacts, and mitigation. Wastewater would be treated to a tertiary level and discharged to Smathers Ravine, with Title 22 standards guiding discharge.

Colfax High film group nets prizes in Tower of Youth
Colfax High students in ThunderCore and CORE produced three award winning short films and a longer feature. Pledge of Allegiance by Susan Harris won first in Civic Leadership at Tower of Youth. Small-Time Crooks by Christina Crago and Elliot Lampkin took second in Short Story. Beware by Will Cole was selected for the International Student Film Festival Hollywood. The group earned $6,000 in software and expanded through a four year informal partnership.

Colfax’s garden club, a member of National Garden Clubs Inc and California Garden Clubs Inc, oversees nearly 30 committees that run events across Colfax. Founded in May 1948 by 83 residents who chose the iris as the club flower, it now has 57 active members amid ongoing community projects.
