Colfax city officials must pick one of three wastewater treatment plant upgrade paths to meet a California board deadline. The 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting will discuss plant capacity and methods to comply with state standards by summer 2006, with public input invited.
The Upper North Fork of the American River near Soda Springs is set to become a Wild River as 1,380 acres of privately owned land are acquired by the Forest Service. The move, part of President Bush’s 2004 budget, aims to protect water quality and provide public recreation near Sacramento as Placer County grows.
The American River portion has been designated a Wild River by Congress with involvement from the Richard Johnson USS and fire service officials.
