Timothy Valleau, 57, was arrested Sunday in Iowa Hill on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly firing a handgun at two men. Valleau, booked at Placer County Jail in North Auburn, was held without bail. Neighbors said a gun malfunction saved lives, and the canoe dispute led to the confrontation near Hampshire Rocks campground plus the discovery of a damaged canoe on adjoining property.
