Grass Fire Threatens Home Near Meyer Road Nevada County
A grass fire on the Nevada County side of Bear River Canyon was brought under control Monday after 2 p.m. by Chicago Park and Peardale Fire Departments with two air drops by a California Department of Forestry S2T tanker. The two acre blaze near Meyer Road off Highway 174 endangered homes, but one house was saved as firefighters protected the structure. Light winds aided containment while multiple engines responded, and CDF strike teams were assembled as other fires stretched resources in the Lake Tahoe region.
