Past and Future United by 150 Years of Methodist Life
A Dutch Methodist congregation marked 150 years with a Sunday service, prayers, and song. Bishop Beverly Shamana lauded the church as a sign of God’s activity and a pledge to remain. Docents from Golden Drift Historical Society reviewed church history and local landmarks. George Lay of Placer County Historical Society spoke. A time capsule burial, including a Navy sonar buoy and newspapers, linked past and future congregants. Lunch followed.
