Evacuation Lifts as Cape Horn Residents Return Home
Hundreds evacuated from Cape Horn due to a fire were allowed to return home Monday evening after a 48 hour evacuation. Sheriff’s deputies issued a voluntary evacuation Sunday afternoon as fire crews and air tankers attacked the blaze. An emergency shelter opened at the Sierra Vista Community Center in Colfax with Red Cross, OES and local volunteers providing cots meals and supplies. Community groups and local businesses donated water snacks coffee and meals to displaced residents as crews worked to prevent further damage.

Man Dies In I 80 Crash At Dutch Flat
Susie Sventosch reports a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 at Dutch Flat early August 8 left Jonathon Wallace 19 of Oakland dead at the scene. Passengers Keith Wilson 21 of Richmond is in critical condition at Sutter Roseville. Craig Berry Jr. of Oakland sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized.
