Aliso Viejo poker pro charged in ticket flipping fraud
A federal grand jury indicted Seyed Reza Ali Fazeli from Aliso Viejo on two counts of wire fraud for allegedly raising 6.2 million from Orange County investors between 2016 and 2017 by promising tickets to the 2017 Super Bowl and 2018 World Cup. Prosecutors say funds were not used to buy tickets and were spent on gambling. Fazeli faces up to 40 years if convicted and faces civil suits alleging he received funds but delivered nothing.
