Rescue on Orca recalls heroics amid cold water

Rollins, 23, aboard the Orca, heard cries for help after spotting two women clinging to a life ring off Beach Road in 59 degree water with 4-foot swells. He and Clark guided them aboard, warmed them, and alerted Harbor Patrol. Responders evaluated for possible hypothermia.

Lagunas Run-4Water fundraiser nets 210000 for Uganda wells

More than 700 attendees joined Wells of Life fourth annual Run-4Water at Laguna Niguel Regional Park on Earth Day. Organizers met a goal with 50 teams to fund 40 sustainable wells in Uganda. Top fundraisers were San Francisco Solano Church RCIA in Rancho Santa Margarita with 30260. The event offered 5K and 1K runs, sponsor booths, a Tesla exhibit, kids activities and food trucks.
