Mrs. Erwin C. Witt formerly Miss Jane Johannsen received a series of post-nuptial courtesy events. Her aunt Mrs. Frank Greve hosted a miscellaneous shower in Low Moor with relatives. A group gift shower followed at Mrs. M. E. Barrent's home with co workers as hosts. Her sister in law Mrs. Trvin K. Strating and Miss Dolores Timmer aided at a group gift shower with Witt's classmates. The P. G. 500 club also hosted a group gift shower at Mrs. Richard Rohwer's home.
Mrs Frederic G Williams will show films and discuss her Honolulu trip with Canon Rev Williams at Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge 13s regular meeting in the T O O F temple Oct 12 at 6 p m. An annual supper and bazar is set for Nov 2 with Mrs Edward H Horst as general chairman. Sewing circle meets Oct 11 at Mrs Mary Ploens home. Committee members named for Oct 12 session. Mestco expands copper product manufacture to earn foreign exchange.
Social and Club News highlights a joint birthday party for Charles Gustafson and his granddaughter Susan Gustafson at the Gustafson home with 26 relatives. Hound club awards were announced at a gathering hosted by Mrs. Carl Patten. Goofettes and Amvet auxiliary events featured honors for members and September birthday celebrations at the VA Domiciliary with gifts and refreshments.
Mrs Henderson Pearl Henderson and Mrs Willard Eastman of 746 10th Ave South and 2471 North 2nd Street returned from Marshalltown where they visited Mrs Hendersons mother Mrs William Webber who is a patient at the Wolfe Wye clinic Evangelical hospital.
Miss Elaine M. Stone and Pfc. Gerald H. Robinson were married September 24 at St. John's Catholic church Independence in a double ring ceremony. Bride wore Bavarian lace and nylon tulle gown with pearl necklace, red roses. groom to U. S. Army stationed at Fort Benning Ga. They will live in Columbus.

Army Mothers’ Post 8 meets at 2 p m in Clinton Women’s club. German auxiliary holds regular evening meeting with hostesses Clausen Dann Ehlert. Homemaking committee of Clinton Chapter 474 Moose meets in Moose hall with Getz and Stahle as hostesses. Associate Benevolent Society opens at 11 a m in W C A then luncheon in Rose room.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Banowetz of Charlotte announce the engagement of their daughter Dorothy to Gerald M. Kilburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kil surg of Bellevue. The wedding is planned for November 20 at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Sugar Creek. Marie Fish, 28, and James Bass, 3, were recently married in Angier, N. C., after meeting on a fishing boat.
Mrs Marvel ODell of Dunique is department president of the auxiliary to the United Spanish War Veterans. She will be Clinton guest Oct 3 to tour the VA Hospital. Roy Humphrey Auxiliary and George M Michelsen Post plan a 6 30 dinner in First Congregational Church dining room. Inspection follows at 8 in America Hall. Reservations by 10 am Monday with Mrs Nell Lewis.
The Second district Republican Women announce committees for the fall conference to be hosted at the Lafayette hotel next Wednesday. Registration at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. session, luncheon at 12:30 p.m.Dorothy Houghton of Red Oak touted as main speaker. also expected are Congressman Henry Q. Talle of Decorah and other state and national figures. County officers host a tea 4–6 p.m. in the Blue Room. Mrs. Allen Smith presides. committee personnel listed for hostess, registration, and decorations.
Miss Faye Lowe daughter of Mr and Mrs Glenn Lowe of Lansing Michigan formerly Belleville became the bride of John G Francis Jr son of Mr and Mrs John Francis of Savanna at 730 pm Tuesday at St Peters Lutheran church Savanna The Rev Alfred F Nicolaus officiated The couple were attended by Mr and Mrs Sylvester McWorthy Jr The bride wore cocoa brown knit dress with pink accessories and a shoulder corsage of roses Dinner followed at Meeker's Sea Food Inn The Francis couple then hosted guests
Mr and Mrs Clydé E B Fuller of 62h 2nd Ave South announce the engagement of their daughter Janice to Lawrence Paulsen son of Mr and Mrs Emil Pattison of Miles. No wedding date has been set.
A small group of Clinton county Democrats hosted Leonard Wolf of Eskader a Second District candidate last evening at the Legionnaire club Elkader. Wolf urged turnout and criticized incumbent Henry O Talle urging voters to check records. Other speakers included Walter Al Vaughn Clinton county candidates Paul Scott Patrick O Meara William Cox and E A Stotuvenet plus Joan L Delaney. About 30 attended with plans for a Clinton rally in late October.
Mayor A Dall proclaims October Navy-Marine Corps Month and urges citizens to assist city recruiters in meeting the assigned quota to ensure the navy and marine corps remain the first line of defense. Recruiters present a ship model as part of the drive.
Mrs Edith Dalldorf learns of the death of her brother George Nelson aged 48 of Council Bluffs after an extended illness. He died in a Council Bluffs hospital Tuesday. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 2 p.m. in Council Bluffs with burial there. Mrs Dalldorf and her son Bernert depart Saturday morning to attend.
The bride, a Bellevue High School graduate now employed at Savanna Ordnance depot, and the groom, a Savanna High School graduate with four years in the Navy, have married after a wedding trip to Wisconsin. He has enrolled in Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.
Fred Holt of General Electric spoke to Clinton B P W club for National Business Women's Week. He highlighted America’s growth forces and the rising role of women in business, urging training and long term vision to sustain production and living standards. The event celebrated the club’s 40th anniversary with a ruby ring gift and a five tier birthday cake.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dannatt of Princeton announce the engagement of their daughter Patricia Ann Dannatt to Jim Braudt son of Mr. and Mrs Norton Braudt of Clinton. Patricia is a Clinton High School graduate and a sophomore at Coe College Cedar Rapids studying elementary education. Jim Braudt attends Clinton Junior College preparing for a profession.
Delegates from Chicago Racine Dwight Till Marinette Wis and Menominee Mich attend the District Three conclave at St Stephen's Clinton opening Friday. Rev Paul Wickman speaks on The Christian Outreach in the Community. Activities include youth workshop and women's missionary meeting with services and Holy Communion planned for Sunday.
