Lois Nell Lammert daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Lammert of Garnersville northeast of Clifton earned a 400 college scholarship for 4H Club general excellence She is among four Texas 4H members selected for the Santa Fe Educational Award and will join the Texas delegation to the National Club Congress in Chicago November 27 to December 1 The 12 top 4H members and their counties were chosen through county district and state judging with leadership records and activity participation weighing in local agents and leaders praised for guidance

Two night rodeo crowds filled Clifton fairgrounds with performances Thursday and Saturday as rain canceled Friday. Dick Barrett of Rhine Oklahoma won bareback with 120 dollars while Darrell Hampton posted 176 dollars in calf roping. Leonard Adams earned 132 dollars for second in specialty acts and Byron Heflin topped bull riding with 136 dollars.

Trail Riders Parade To Open Heart Of Texas Rodeo in Waco
About 500 riders join the Cedar Brake Trail Ride starting October 1 at Lake Whitney Dam and ending October 4 in downtown Waco with a 4 pm parade and 8 pm rodeo. The trek includes stopovers in Meridian Clifton Valley Mills and Fred Hall Ranch with daily departures from 8 am and meals and dances en route.

Mrs Hulme Dies In Clifton Hospital After Illness
Kathryne Richards Hulme 65 died September 25 at Clifton hospital after Parkinsons disease and infections. A former Clifton public school teacher, she taught in multiple districts and later cared for three stepsons. Survived by three sisters, three brothers, and 11 step grandchildren.
