CPS confirms its downtown office at 115 North Avenue D will remain open to serve customers. The division office may relocate to a CPS site on State Sibways, but the local office will stay to handle bill payments and other transactions.
Mrs Betty Huse of Craw Falls Gap was officially notified of her appointment as postmaster by Joe B Bruning Dallas district manager for the U S Postal Service. The naming of Mrs Huse was among 20 appointments announced by Regional Postmaster General Carl C Ulsaker of Memphis Tennessee.
Clifton Civic Improvement Society members will view a 3 p m skit titled Alice in Dangerland at City Hall dining room on Wednesday October 3. Mrs W D Goodall directs with Civic Society ties.
Clitten obtains a 15157.16 dollar state share of sales tax receipts for the second quarter ending June 30 1973. City Secretary M R Par White said the check arrived this week while he recovers from surgery at Goodall Witcher Hospital and handles duties from home.
Four people died and seven were injured in 19 motor vehicle crashes on rural Bosque County highways in August. DPS Sgt. J W Wilson said there were 137 accidents, seven deaths, and 55 injured in the county year to date through August.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile returns to Clifton on Thursday from 12 noon to 7 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The drive aims to collect 120 donations in the Clifton-Laguna Park area, led by Rev. Ted Steenblock and local officials including Mayor Jim B. Smith and hospital administrator.
The 1973 74 Clifton budget outlines estimated revenues from water sanitation sewer and other departments and the total receipts. Expenditures cover water sanitation sewer street parks health and police city hall fire department airport and debt service with salaries improvements and other expenses itemized.
Plans for a two Sunday afternoon decoupage and three dimensional art show at the Bosque Memorial Museum feature dried flowers and other works. The Clifton Cubs travel to Comanche for their fourth football game of the season at 8 p.m. on Friday September 26. Tickets will not be sold in Clifton. sales occur beforehand at Comanche High School stadium, announced Clifton Superintendent Kent Appleby.
Clifton High, undefeated at 3–0, meets Comanche at Comanche Stadium at 8 pm with two seniors out and several Cubs recovering from colds. Coach Aubrey Roberts labels Comanche as improving and expects a tough district-qualifying game.
The Clifton Cubs sit 18th among AA high school football teams with a 119.7 strength rate in the fourth Harris rating analysis released to The Clifton Record. Several AA squads ahead include Friendswood 142.5 Reagan County 129.3 Rosebud-Lott 126.7 and Royal 125.9, with Clifton’s opponents list featuring Waco Connally West Hillsboro and McGregor among others. The Harris rating changes weekly based on performance.
Clifton High Cubs delivered a strong defensive showing at Cub Stadium holding unbeaten Hamilton Bulldogs to six first downs and zero points. The Cubs scored three rushing and passing touchdowns to win 20 to 0, extending their season record to three wins, no losses.
