Smith Brothers Buy Entire Santa Gertrudis Herd
Dallas ranchers James and Vernon Smith purchased more than 450 Santa Gertrudis cattle from multiple这 sources in a mid August deal. The sale included Joe Horrigan and Ki He-Kah Ranch cattle as well as 150 top cows with calves. The purchase was publicized by Senta Gertrudis consultant J Frank Leigh of Kingsville Texas.

Malcolm D. Abel of Midland son of Mr and Mrs W C Able of Clifton was elected president of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association at its Fort Worth convention. He becomes TIPRO's 16th president after serving as gas committee chairman for two years and has held multiple leadership roles. Jim Brynie Recovering After Fort Worth Stabbing
Jim Brynie son of Mr and Mrs Chris H Brynie from this city is convalescing fairly well after being stabbed in the back at 1211 Main Street Fort Worth. He reported to police it was a case of mistaken identity and remains at Peter Smith Hospital where pneumonia developed following the stabbing. His family rushed to Fort Worth and returned after learning of his condition.

Best Times Set in Clifton Rodeo Events at Central Texas Fair
Raymond H. Rogstad president of the Clifton Horse Show reported two top rodeo marks at the Central Texas Fair and Rodeo last week. A 97 time in calf roping and a 3.7 time in steer wrestling were described as the best in 14 years of local rodeos. Rogstad praised club members for strong crowds and limited seating.

Mrs Ida Sophie Boelter Wessinger aged 78 years 11 months and 4 days of 205 North Avenue F Clifton died about 8 05 PM Monday September 21 in the local hospital after a stroke September 10 and subsequent pneumonia. Born October 17 1885 in Corsicana she moved to Bosque County as a child and remained near Clifton. she was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at Womack. She married Albert Henry Wessinger March 4 1908 and was mother to eight children.

Lightning Damages Clifton Factory Home and Floods Hit Area
A Monday lightning strike knocked out telephone lines and fuses at Clif Tex Manufacturing on North Highway 6 and set a fire at the Tweedie home on Farm To Market Road 219 west of Clifton. The Tweedies extinguished the blaze but needed a new stove. About 1.5 inches of rain caused a temporary flood in northwest Clifton.

New Industry Moving Here From McGregor
T. S. Hughes, owner of the T. S. Hughes Wood Shop in McGregor since 1951, closed there on September 15 and moved equipment to Clifton. He aims to open a Clifton shop within two weeks in a 5 000 square foot quonset hut building leased for five years by Texas Milling Co. The shop will produce store fixtures, cabinets, furniture, and other woodworking items. P. L. Ashcraft will represent the Clifton shop in sales.
