Smith Brothers Buy Entire Santa Gertrudis Herd

Dallas ranchers James and Vernon Smith purchased more than 450 Santa Gertrudis cattle from multiple这 sources in a mid August deal. The sale included Joe Horrigan and Ki He-Kah Ranch cattle as well as 150 top cows with calves. The purchase was publicized by Senta Gertrudis consultant J Frank Leigh of Kingsville Texas.

Son of Local Couple Elected TIPRO President

Malcolm D. Abel of Midland son of Mr and Mrs W C Able of Clifton was elected president of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association at its Fort Worth convention. He becomes TIPRO's 16th president after serving as gas committee chairman for two years and has held multiple leadership roles. Abel is UT graduate, resident of Midland since 1947, and in a 1961 partnership with James R Bancroft of San Francisco.

Clifton Band Parents Name Officers For 1964 65

Members of the Clifton Band Parents Association named officers for the 1964 65 year after a 7:30 meeting at the Band Hall on Monday night September 21. Elected officers are Cris E. Pierson president J L Standefer Jr vice president and Mrs Allan Darsey secretary treasurer. Outgoing officers are Jerry Godby Eldon Zimmerman and Mrs L P Schrantz.

Jim Brynie Recovering After Fort Worth Stabbing

Jim Brynie son of Mr and Mrs Chris H Brynie from this city is convalescing fairly well after being stabbed in the back at 1211 Main Street Fort Worth. He reported to police it was a case of mistaken identity and remains at Peter Smith Hospital where pneumonia developed following the stabbing. His family rushed to Fort Worth and returned after learning of his condition.

Felix Cox Injured In Pickup Wreck Near De Leon

Felix Cox of Star Route 1 Clifton sustained a broken right leg and collarbone with bruises when the pickup overturned about 5:00 p m Saturday west of De Leon. He was en route to Midland. mechanical failure is suspected. He is hospitalized in Clifton.

Behringer Reports County Tax Rise and Vehicle Registrations

Bosque County tax rolls total 14,277,220 with eight year growth led by Clifton and Lake Whitney areas. Over 9,000 vehicles registered this year and more than 2,000 titles issued, raising about 150,000 dollars in county revenue. Best Times Set in Clifton Rodeo Events at Central Texas Fair

Raymond H. Rogstad president of the Clifton Horse Show reported two top rodeo marks at the Central Texas Fair and Rodeo last week. A 97 time in calf roping and a 3.7 time in steer wrestling were described as the best in 14 years of local rodeos. Rogstad praised club members for strong crowds and limited seating.

Winners Listed In 1964 Fair Junior Livestock Show

Mickey Graham of McGregor led the junior livestock show at the 1964 Central Texas Fair and Rodeo in Clifton, with the McGregor FFA team named high team. Roland Howard of Ir edell and Bill Parham of Stephenville followed as second and third high individuals, while Dublin, Whitney, and Dublin topped the high teams.

Mrs. Albert H. Wessinger Dies At 78 In Clifton

Mrs Ida Sophie Boelter Wessinger aged 78 years 11 months and 4 days of 205 North Avenue F Clifton died about 8 05 PM Monday September 21 in the local hospital after a stroke September 10 and subsequent pneumonia. Born October 17 1885 in Corsicana she moved to Bosque County as a child and remained near Clifton. she was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at Womack. She married Albert Henry Wessinger March 4 1908 and was mother to eight children.

Lightning Damages Clifton Factory Home and Floods Hit Area

A Monday lightning strike knocked out telephone lines and fuses at Clif Tex Manufacturing on North Highway 6 and set a fire at the Tweedie home on Farm To Market Road 219 west of Clifton. The Tweedies extinguished the blaze but needed a new stove. About 1.5 inches of rain caused a temporary flood in northwest Clifton.

New Industry Moving Here From McGregor

T. S. Hughes, owner of the T. S. Hughes Wood Shop in McGregor since 1951, closed there on September 15 and moved equipment to Clifton. He aims to open a Clifton shop within two weeks in a 5 000 square foot quonset hut building leased for five years by Texas Milling Co. The shop will produce store fixtures, cabinets, furniture, and other woodworking items. P. L. Ashcraft will represent the Clifton shop in sales.

Clifton Rain Gauge Records 5.10 Inches in Past Week

Official gauge in Clifton reported 5.10 inches of rainfall from 7:00 A.M. September 16 to 2:30 P.M. September 23. Nearby areas logged higher totals, and the Bosque River rose 15 feet while Meridian Creek also rose, affecting the region.

Winners in the 1964 Central Texas Fair and Rodeo Parade in Clifton were Bosque County 4H Club Clifton Junior Chamber of Commerce and Clifton Chapter of Future Homemakers of America, receiving 15 10 and 5 dollars from the fair association. Clifton market prices for eggs grain cattle and hogs

Prices from Thursday morning show eggs grade A large 30 to 33 cents a dozen, oats 60 cents a bushel, milling wheat 1.50 a barrel, cattle offering around 550 head with steady to strong values. Steers and yearlings 20 to 22.50, butcher calves 18 to 22, cows and calves 90 to 160, hog tops 16.25 to 16.90 dollars.
