Clifton Receives $13394 City Sales Tax Rebate

Clifton has been issued a $13 394 70 rebate as part of September city sales tax rebates. State Comptroller Bob Bullock said checks totaling $56.6 million were mailed last week to 855 cities and towns with other Basque County communities also receiving payments. City rebates total $230 million so far this year, up about 18 percent from 1975.

Rotary selects Clarence Fields Jr as vice president

Smoking costs decline among adults in Bosque County

A special report notes national trends show fewer adults smoke while teenage girls aged 13 to 17 show rising smoking rates. In Bosque County about 1,427,000 packs were sold last year, at roughly 9 per smoker, with total spending near 761000 dollars.

Fund to aid boy hurt in dynamite blast

A fund at Clifton Bank seeks donations to The Lacy Fund for 14-year-old James Lacy Jordan injured in a dynamite accident at Indian Springs Boys' Ranch. He lost his left forearm and vision in one eye, with the other eye endangered. He was treated at Goodall-Witcher Hospital and later at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

Boy Hospitalized After West 17th Street Collision

An eight year old boy was taken to Goodall Witcher Hospital Foundation for evaluation after a two car crash at West 17th Street and South Ave K. The 1976 two door slammed into a 1975 two door. injuries not confirmed.

Living standards rise in Bosque County households

Home appliances and cars proliferate as incomes grow, with 55 percent of Bosque County homes owning freezers and 93 percent owning at least one car. Air conditioners reach 54 percent, color TV ownership surpasses 94 percent, and the regional living standard index sits at 296 versus a US 240. Higher earnings drive greater ownership across income brackets.

Lucas to photograph Clifton children for record feature

Irving resident Winston B. Lucas will return to Clifton next month to photograph county youngsters. The sessions run October 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Clifton Civic Center Council chambers with no charge to parents.

The Bosque County American Heart Association plans its first Cyclethon at Meridian High School Track Field on October 2 with 9 am registration. Participants collect sponsorships per lap or mile, turn in funds by October 8, and prizes include a bicycle for first place.
