County Seeks Predator Control Changes and Budgets

A Clifton Sunset Home luncheon brought together about 15 relatives including three sisters aged 99 89 and 86 Mrs Sarah Whitley 99 a resident and Mrs Rebecca Morris 89 of Rosemead California and Mrs Anna Rogers 86 of Katy The elder Whitley remains active making quilts and ceramics Her family notes her close hearing and many descendants including 12 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren and 49 great great grandchildren The piece recounts their family history including Rev John Renfro their grandfather and ties to Baptists and local towns.

Health official to brief swine flu volunteers in Clifton

Billie Brown of the Texas Department of Health Resources will speak at 2 30 Friday September 17 at the Clifton Civic Center to briefing volunteers aiding the swine flu immunization program announced local chairman Mrs M B Jameson.

Rims Stolen From Pickup On West 5th Street

Police report two rims valued at 20 dollars were taken from the back of a pickup parked on West 5th Street. The theft occurred Thursday to Saturday. An arrest on misdemeanor or failure to appear was made and fined. No injuries after a minor collision at 10:25 a.m. September 8 in the 800 block of West 3rd Street.

Calf hit twice dies on highway west of Meridian

A black angus calf died Thursday evening on State Highway 6 nine miles west of Meridian after two separate vehicles struck it. The first car a 1971 sedan driven by June Roberson of Hico caused moderate damage. seconds later a 1970 sedan driven by Verlyn Walker of Hico lightly damaged the car. No owners identified at press time. Another crash east of Clifton involved two sedans with light damage and no injuries.
