Evangelist Albert Petrich, director of Apostolic Concerns Radio and Evangelistic Mission, will speak at the Independent Baptist Church at Pecan Street and North Avenue E in Clifton at 6 30 p m Sunday September 23.
The public is invited to attend the service. Evangelist Petrich broadcasts at 7 45 a m on Sundays on radio KCLW Hamilton 00 kilocycles and at 8 45 a m on KMIL Cameron 1339 kilocycles. His Messages of Hope for a Troubled World are available on cassette or reel to reel tapes.
Mr and Mrs Frank Watley observed their 34th anniversary on Sunday September 9 at home. Attending were Mr and Mrs Joe Watley and their sons Sedris and Joe Jr Roosevelt White Miss Hodie Brown George Reagan Carol and Alton Watley Vanita Watley and Mrs Lavern Ballard and Denise.
Airman First Class Barry W Vermillion son of Mr and Mrs J R Vermillion of Walnut Springs completed the USAF veterinary specialist course at Sheppard AFB Tex The graduate trained to inspect cod serving and storage facilities will join the USAF Hospital at Randolph AFB He is a 1963 Walnut Springs High School graduate His wife Teresa daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Larsey of Clifton.
Mrs Hank Grissom is reported to be doing well following surgery at Hubbard Hospital. The update notes her condition improved and there is no mention of complications.
Major and Mrs. Fred Wilson Jr. and children LaRay and Jo stayed with Major Wilson’s parents Mr and Mrs Fred Wilson of Clifton. He is on leave after completing studies at Fort Leavenworth and recently served with II Corps at Fort Hood. They will soon depart for Germany to join Centre Army Group in Mannheim.
The Bosque County Historical Survey Committee met in Meridian to discuss marker dedication at Santa Fe Depot Valley Mills a history awareness workshop in Austin a Belton district meeting and Kimball Cemetery cataloging. The Texas Historical Film request was sent to Austin and two log cabin reports with photos were sent to Denton with seven more ready to mail. Mrs. George Brooks resigned as vice chair.
Two vehicle collisions occurred early on Monday involving livestock. A 1965 pickup driven by James W. Pitts struck a heifer two miles north of Valley Mills on State Highway 6 killing the animal and damaging the truck. A 1971 sedan driven by Ester Anderson damaged after striking a deer on State Highway 22 near Cranfills Gap. the deer is believed dead.
Forty AL.C.W. members met at St. Olaf Church on September 5 for their annual workshop for the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. They saved articles and elected Mrs. Carroll Knudson as a convention delegate for Bryan on October 8 to 10. The meeting theme was Redeemed Say So.
The Valley Mills ex students homecoming set for Saturday October 6 features school open house a banquet and a dance. Banquet speaker is Fred Weir Jr. Tickets via Jenitta Behnke Cathy Fidstad or Mary Sue Crawson with a September 21 deadline. Classes ending in 97 to be honored.
Mrs Feed Wilson and Mrs Betty Wilson visited recently in the home of Mr and Mrs Ray Boone near Hico, sharing companionship during their call and touring the property.
Mrs. Lionel Head of the Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council in Waco announced new uniforms for Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts arriving this fall. The council covers 13 Central Texas counties including Bosque. Brownie uniforms were updated last spring and Junior Scouts aged 11 will have 12 distinct looks from formal to casual.
Cadette Girl Scouts ages 12 to 14 will use six newly designed components to create over 16 official outfits. The program aims to expand wardrobe options while keeping uniform standards.
Waco Social Security Office reps will visit Clifton City Hall Dining Room on October 2 16 November 6 20 December 4 18 at 9 30 a m. They will also tour Meridian Bosque County Courthouse on October 9 23 November 13 27 and December 11 at 9 30 a m.
