The Clifton Independent School District Board adopted an 849 104 dollar budget for 1976 77 with projected revenues of 763 176 and a deficit covered from 75 76 fund balances. Enrollment declined from 795 to 776, with detailed class counts given for elementary and high school. The board also rebid the Clifton High School roof project and planned bids for the elementary gym roof.

Police report quiet Labor Day weekend in Clifton
Police Chief Alvin James said Clifton enjoyed a peaceful Labor Day weekend with no accidents or burglaries. A collision at 6 45 p m August 31 on South Ave G and West 15th St involved a 1973 two door hardtop and a 1970 two door sedan. the hardtop had light damage and the sedan medium light damage.

The Carl Simpson Polled Hereford heifer calf prize went to Davi Alcorta of Clifton who took a $100 cash award. sales raised $734 for the Exhibits Building. The Star Quilt winner by Clifton's Senior Citizens was Mrs. Geraldine Gilbert, who helped on the quilt, with $590 proceeds toward the Exhibits Building.
