Clifton Horse Show Club representatives James Lynn Kelly Mrs John P D Fenn and Claudale Kelly earned top honors in the Central Texas Association over 30 summer shows. James Lynn won champion all around boy title Mrs Fenn was reserve all around in ladies class and Claudale claimed reserve all around in teenage girls division. Awards total include fifty dollar silver buckles at a Waco dinner Monday September 19 with many Clifton riders and other area competitors also honored.

Death of Ballard N Strong After Ranch Dragging Incident
Ballard N Strong aged 60 of Hico dies in a ranch accident Sunday when a newly purchased horse dragged him across the pasture. His body was dragged for about an hour before being discovered by his son. Funeral services were held Tuesday with many from the community in attendance.

The Clifton PTA invites all parents and friends to a 7 PM covered dish supper and informal program at the National Guard Armory on September 21. Superintendent Kent Appleby will MC the program. Clifton's fast improving Cubs defeated Meridian Yellow Jackets 45 12 at Cub Stadium last Friday night. Willenborg and Kettler led the offense with multiple touchdowns and the Cubs reserves gained significant playing time in both halves. Meridian scored once in the first half and once late in the game as Clifton piled up 270 rushing yards and 279 total yards while Meridian had 79 rushing and 80 passing.
