Ill Alfred Finstad and Cameron Gustafson receive get well wishes while Canute Carlson is mourned. his funeral was held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Clifton. Local families and many guests gathered for services and weekend visits in the Gap Clifton area.
Wally Ludtke shows improvement as coach Chuck Fairbanks leverages two a day drills. The Cougars have led the nation in pass theft, with Byron Beaver and Joe Zuger cited for top rankings in 1962 and 1961 respectively.
Visiting last weekend at Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hulme were Allen Hulme and daughters Vickie and Cindy of Houston, Jim Morrison of Floydada, Don Holt and children Bryan Don and Rena, Bernice Sutton of Waco, Killis Holt and Iris Holt of Clifton. Morrison attended funeral services for his brother in law Will Cooper in Overton, then returned to Floydada. The piece also recalls Clifton native Wally Ludtke and his college connections with Texas A&M, the St. Louis Cardinals, and teammates Jim Willenborg and Ernest Erickson, plus his nickname origin and football plans to run the Clifton drug store with his mother.
Funeral services for Edgar C. Craft 80 were conducted at First Baptist Church Meridian at 2 p.m. Sunday September 6. The Rev Roy Hill officiated. Burial followed at Wortham Bend Cemetery in Southeast Bosque County with Clifton Funeral Home in charge. Craft a longtime Bosque County resident born in Alabama lived in Meridian seven years. Survivors include wife Bertha Craft two daughters E M Davis of Waco Lula B Norfleet of Oxnard California one son Alvin Craft of Belton three half siblings eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Canute Carlson aged 64 dies September 4 in local hospital after sustaining burns on about 60 percent of his body from a farm home explosion the previous Monday night near the Norse community. He lived on Route 2 Clifton worked for Cris E. Pierson. Funeral held September 5 at St Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap with pallbearers E D Johnson and Martin. He is survived by two daughters Connie Hey and Elsie Phillips, seven grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters.
Terri Lynn Smith celebrated her fourth birthday with a backyard lawn party on a Tuesday evening hosted by Mr and Mrs Frank Smith Jr. Friends attended and gifts were opened followed by punch and birthday cake. Attendees included Ricky Moncrief Debbie Rierson Barry Finstad Keith Sherry and Kevin Finstad and others. Interment followed in Olaf Rock Church Cemetery at Clifton.
