Fair and Rodeo backers plan a Booster Trail tour on Wednesday September 9 to publicize the Central Texas Fair and Rodeo in Clifton. About twenty people in several cars will visit Bosque Hamilton Coryell Melennan and Hill Counties with a noon lunch stop in West and a schedule ending in Clifton at 4 20 PM. The tour will start at 8 AM from Clifton with stops in Leas Doe Cr Gap Hamilton Jonesboro Gatesville McGregor Crawford V Mills West Hillsboro Whitney Laguna Park Meridian and Laguna Pic before final Clifton arrival.

Borchers Elected 1965 Navy Crew Captain
Midshipman Doyle J. Borchers of Clifton has been elected captain of the 1965 U S Naval Academy heavyweight crew. He pulled the number six oar on both varsity and junior varsity boats last season and has won two crew letters. He is son of Mr and Mrs Doyle J. Borchers, long-time Clifton residents now living in Annapolis.

Open House At Clifton Gun Club Draws Fifty Attendees
About 50 people attended the Clifton Gun Club open house from 1 to 6 PM on Sunday August 30 at the Jack R. Hill place east of Clifton. Most participants practiced shooting to sharpen accuracy ahead of the dove season. Secretary treasurer Bill Blewett said club membership runs around 45 with several inquiries at the event. Former Cliftonite Burned At Work In Dallas Explosion
Jimmy Royal, son in law of Mr and Mrs Fount Benfer of Mesquite, was injured Tuesday morning in a Dallas pipes explosion. Knocked from a ten foot ladder his clothing ignited causing second and third degree burns to hands and forearms and deep facial cuts. He is in Methodist Hospital Dallas room 497 awaiting possible plastic surgery. Former Clifton residents Peggy Robin and Richie Royal are his wife and children.

Farm Home Explosion Burns Canute Carlson
Canute Carlson, 64, was severely burned in a Monday night explosion that destroyed a Route 2 Clifton farm home. He is listed in critical condition with burns on about 60 percent of his body, including third degree burns on the legs and feet, at the local hospital. The house once owned by Ringness and now by the Piersons is near Martin Hoel Jr. and his wife, who heard the blast and reported the fire after seeing its reflection.
