Clifton Cubs beat Joshua Owls 14 to 6 as Flanagan led defense with 92 rushing yards allowed and 15 passing yards. Kreid and Pollard starred in the backfield while Outlaw connected with Conrad for a touchdown. Joshua showed early life with a blocked punt TD but could not sustain offense.

Airport expansion contract awarded to Catt Construction Co

Catt Construction Co won the $65,565 bid to build an air maintenance building at the municipal airport. Other bids ranged up to $77,565 from National Building Centers. The building will be leased to Schafer Aircraft Modifications Inc, which plans to move from Waco by Nov 1 and employ six to seven locals. Schafer will operate refueling and keep proceeds.

County budget rises slightly in Meridian.

The Meridan Commissioners' Court adopted a 653,153 budget a 27,346 increase over 1976 77. Taxes stay at 80 cents per 100 valuation with about 16,600 from added property and revaluation and 10,746 from higher county office fees. No new positions. pay raises discussed September 12 at the county courthouse. The 80 cent rate funds jury 3 cents road and bridge 38 cents general and 1 cent permanent improvement.

Cubs Football Tickets On Sale For Glen Rose Game

Student tickets are one dollar and available at Clifton High School Clifton Elementary School Calvert's Prescription Pharmacy and Service Drug for the Clifton Cubs vs Glen Rose Tigers home game. General admission adult tickets are two dollars at the gate and prices apply to next week’s Itasca Wampus Cats game and all district games. Season tickets for five home games cost eight dollars and seventy five cents and remain on sale until 5 p.m. Friday. Reserved seats may be purchased for two dollars per game.

The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department fought five grass fires adjacent to railroad tracks on Saturday. Two trucks were dispatched with responses between 3 and 4 p m 4 15 to 4 45 p m 5 30 to 5 7 30 p m and 8 30 to 9 p m.

Police report describes theft of two candy bars from a machine at the B and J Laundromat on N Highway 6. Officer Billy Green found the display area glass kicked in at 12:50 a.m. Monday, indicating entry by the thief.

Clifton High prepares for its first home football game at Cub Stadium at 8 p.m. Friday against Glen Rose, a veteran, multi offense team noted by Coach Don Hennig as having strong runners and a capable passer. He cited key Tigers Terry Shackelford, Pat Sanders, and Glen Schuelke, and previewed a competitive battle with Joshua behind them in the season opener.

Miss Pechal wins door prize at Fair Exhibits Building

The Door Prize at the new Exhibits Building was awarded Saturday evening to Miss Elsie Pechal of Clifton from a register of 505 entrants. The floral table arrangement, donated by Mrs. M. E. Allen of Walling Bend, was delivered to Miss Pechal, who served as a hostess both days and signed the guest book.
