CHS 27 Plans 50th Reunion in Clifton

Clifton High School's Class of 1927 will hold its 50th reunion Saturday and Sunday Sept 10 and 11 at the Clifton Civic Center. Registration and visiting begin at 2 30 p m Sept 10 with a Clifton tour followed by a 6 30 p m dinner and program. Friends invited to an 8 30 p m social. Area members include Harry Womack Tommie Joe Harris and others from Clifton Crawfills Gap and Mosheim.

Three Hurt In City Motor Vehicle Crash

Police say three people were injured in a Sunday night crash in the 700 block of N Avenue G. Otto Zellmer, treated and released, rode in a DPS Highway Patrol vehicle to Meridian Hospital. Donald and Belinda Carpenter were hospitalized with injuries from a southbound sedan.

Jerry Lewis Telethon Slated for Clifton Sept 4 5

The 12th annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon Against Muscular Dystrophy will be broadcast in Clifton Sept 4 and 5. A relay Walk-and-Run-Athon from Meridian to Waco starts Saturday morning with Clifton students and volunteers taking turns carrying the baton. The telethon on Channel 10 in Waco begins 10 30 p.m. Sunday with local reports from Central Texas and Clifton’s Telethon Center at Maddux Western Ford.

Cubs Open Season at Joshua in Friday Night Opener

Season tickets go on sale for Clifton Cubs football

Clifton High School fans can buy season tickets for six home games at Calvert's Pharmacy and three other outlets. Tickets cost 6.75 and sell through Friday, Sept. 9. Clifton High to Sell Joshua Game Tickets Wednesday

Pre game tickets for the Clifton High School varsity football clash with Joshua go on sale Wednesday afternoon. Clifton residents pay 1.75 dollars for adults and 1 dollar for students, while tickets at the game are 2 dollars. Tickets are available at Clifton and Joshua schools and Calvert's Pharmacy and Service Drug through 5 p.m. Friday.

Record readers pay less as tax removed on papers

A new state law eliminates sales tax on newspaper sales. The Clifton Record price drops from 6 30 to 6 per year for residents in Bosque Coryell Erath Hamilton Hill Johnson McLennan and Somerville counties. Texas mail subscriptions fall to 8 while out of state stay at 9 a year.

Clifton ISD keeps tax rate at 1.30 for third year

Clifton Independent School District trustees kept the tax rate at 1.30 per hundred dollars valuation for the 1977-78 year. The 1977-78 budget totals 895,718 with projected revenues of 918,831 and a 23,113 surplus. Senior class trip plans and gym floor repairs were discussed, with suggestions to limit trips to Texas and control trip costs.
