A 54 year old Clifton College Baseball team photo from 1914 sparked a reunion held last weekend. Wives attended and joined a dinner at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home and a sightseeing tour then reception at A L Bronstad home.
Local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts start a charity project on Saturday November 2 to fill Goodwill Bags with clothing and items for Texas families in need. Bags are dropped at residences for delivery to Texas distribution centers. Pickup day is Saturday November 9 and organizers urge participation.
Clifton businessmen and women are invited to a Holiday Season planning meeting at 3 p.m. Friday at City Hall to decide events and timing including inviting Sania to visit Clifton. June Standefer announces the planning efforts with Rudy Johnson as Christmas lighting chairman for this year.
The Central Texas Polled Hereford Association schedules its 17th annual Show and Sale for Nov 1 and 2 in Clifton. Twenty leading breeders consign 40 bulls and 20 females, mostly serviceable age. some bulls are two years old. Members say the females are exceptionally good and will enhance any cow herd.
Clifton High School hosts Itasca Wampuscats for a 7 30 kickoff to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1918 Cub football team. Queen candidates Janet Holder Marsha Hill and Kim Outlaw chosen by students will be revealed at halftime.
The Clifton Garden Club will present its fifteenth annual Flower Show on Thursday Oct 31 from 2 30 to 6 p m at 315 South Ave G Clifton. The show titled Melody Memories is open to the public with no admission. Mrs M K Bradstreet is Flower Show Chairman. Mrs Frank Bishop is consultant.
Clifton hosts Itasca in a third district showdown as the Cubs chase a third straight district win and a homecoming victory. Coach Aubrey Roberts cites the Valley Mills game as their best this season and expects another strong effort despite injuries to Tommy Todd and others. 7:30 p.m. kickoff remains the season time.
Absentee voting data in Bosque County suggests a record turnout for the November 5 general election. By Thursday 5 p.m. 108 absentee ballots had been cast, with 106 mailed to residents outside the county. Voters are urged to ensure proper ballot markings amid new straight ticket and split ticket rules and the presence of the American Party.
Clifton's Lions Club sponsors a broom and mop sale on Tuesday afternoon November 17 in front of Clifton City Hall. No house to house drive. Proceeds benefit the Lighthouse for the Blind and local Lions projects.
