The Selmer Erickson American Legion Post 822 Clifton opens on Veterans Day at 2 pm for visitors with a supper at 7:30 pm for members and protective members. Refreshments will be served and a note on student voting shows Nixon leading in a class straw poll. A call is issued for an adult ex-student to organize CHS exes with Mrs. E. B. Harris.

Melody Memories Flower Show At Clifton Garden Club

Clifton Garden Club hosted its 15th Annual Flower Show on October 31 1968 at Mrs N W Willetts home from 230 to 600 pm. Ninety plus guests registered while club members presided at the tea table. Judges included Mrs Elsie Rea Mrs J Luther Staton Jr and Mrs E R Strong. Blue ribbons went to several exhibitors for both artistic and horticultural divisions including Mrs Ray Byford and others.

Bosque County Votes 1968 Election Record Counts Clifton Victory

Bosque County turnout hit 4404 in the 1968 general election, up from 3714 in 1964, with 5422 registered. Nixon carried four precincts and most absentee ballots, while Humphrey led overall. Clifton resident Isenhower won his box 469 to 357 and the Womack box 36 to 34 in the local race. Preston Smith won the governorship. Poage topped Dunn for the U.S. House seat and Barnes and Martin led for Lt Governor and Attorney General.
