The speaker claims a secret source would have predicted Nixon's strong presidential win, citing a personal note about a daughter in Mrs Ringness's third grade class at Chilton Elementary School.
The Selmer Erickson American Legion Post 822 Clifton opens on Veterans Day at 2 pm for visitors with a supper at 7:30 pm for members and protective members. Refreshments will be served and a note on student voting shows Nixon leading in a class straw poll. A call is issued for an adult ex-student to organize CHS exes with Mrs. E. B. Harris.
Clifton Garden Club hosted its 15th Annual Flower Show on October 31 1968 at Mrs N W Willetts home from 230 to 600 pm. Ninety plus guests registered while club members presided at the tea table. Judges included Mrs Elsie Rea Mrs J Luther Staton Jr and Mrs E R Strong. Blue ribbons went to several exhibitors for both artistic and horticultural divisions including Mrs Ray Byford and others.
Clifton's A squad lost to Cranfills Gap High School Girls 47 to 35 in the opening game. The Gap series marked its third outing. Clifton's Junior High Girls beat Cranfills Gap 24 to 22 with Margie Berger scoring 16 points.

High winds and marble sized hail disrupted power briefly in Clifton on Saturday night. A large oak near the American Legion building suffered limb damage, with no eye witnesses confirming a tornado. No major property damage or injuries were reported locally.
Clifton's Cubs travel to China Spring for a District 13-A football clash at 7 30 p m. The Cubs seek a district shutout season while China Spring fields a young squad with key injuries depleting starters Poe Todd Helms Aars.
Ministers of all Clifton churches or a lay representative are invited to a meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church Clifton at 10 a.m. Tuesday Nov 12. The purpose is to plan a cooperative union Thanksgiving Service for Wednesday evening Nov 27. Rev J Morris Bailey Methodist pastor announces.
Clifton's B-Squad game with Granbury was cancelled by Granbury and rebooked last minute for 7:15 p.m. at Stephenville. Clifton's Bets beat Itasca 22-8 last Thursday to raise season record to 5-2. Canuteson and Dreyer connected for key scores while Dossman forced a safety. Musselman Bergman and Stacha starred on defense for the Cubs.
Postmaster Robert Baldridge urges holiday mailers to start early to ease the heavy load. He advises using ZIP Codes, sturdy packaging, legible addresses, and updating return addresses. The 1968 Christmas stamp is available, and greeting cards up to one ounce mail at six cents.
The Clifton American Legion Auxiliary will sell poppies on Saturday November 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Keeling's store, Clifton.
Clifton Mayor Cris Pierson lauded Lions Club for aiding blind Texans and raising funds through a community broom sale of blind-made products. Lion D. Halverson announced the drive with a sale set for next Tuesday, November 12, at Clifton City Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bosque County turnout hit 4404 in the 1968 general election, up from 3714 in 1964, with 5422 registered. Nixon carried four precincts and most absentee ballots, while Humphrey led overall. Clifton resident Isenhower won his box 469 to 357 and the Womack box 36 to 34 in the local race. Preston Smith won the governorship. Poage topped Dunn for the U.S. House seat and Barnes and Martin led for Lt Governor and Attorney General.
