Clifton High routed Alvarado 50 6 in the District 13-A opener as James Haywood scored four touchdowns including a 55 yard punt return and a 72 yard run. Sam Ralph added two scores and Tommy Traylor another as Clifton rolled up 359 rushing yards and 95 passing yards while limiting Alvarado to minus 17 rushing yards and only four first downs. The Indians pulled a kickoff return for a touchdown on a broken play, but Clifton dominated with strong line play and numerous penalties marred the game.

Mrs. Freddie Dickinson Cox aged 63 years 1 month 17 days of Route 3 Valley Mills died at 2 55 Sunday afternoon in Clifton hospital after recent illness. Born September 1 1901 Caldwell she lived in Mosheim and Lanes Chapel Bosque County. She married Joseph Sawyer Cox July 29 1920 and had three children Doyle Lee Lorene and Fayrene. She and her husband lived on a farm near Lanes Chapel Memorial Church and later at their present place about 13 miles from Clifton.

Mrs Golden in Hospital After Heart Attack
Mrs Velma W. Golden was hospitalized Sunday night after a heart attack. By Tuesday afternoon her condition seemed improved. Her daughter Laverne Milliorn and grandchildren Barbara and Bryan of Buchanan Dam arrived Sunday night, and Mr and Mrs Joe Hite with daughters Linda and Donna of Amarillo came Monday to be with her mother.

Mrs. Bean Funeral Services Held in Clifton
Mrs. Eunice Brake Bean, 79, a Clifton resident for over four decades, died October 15 near her son Rey Bean’s home after a year of illness from a brain tumor. Born June 7, 1885, she lived in Oklahoma and Texas before settling in Clifton in 1916 and later in Strawn. Her husband William Edmond Bean died in 1938. she left five children, including Myrtle Gustafson, and many relatives.

Three Homes Burn in Turnersville Turnover Near Clifton
Clifton's Volunteer Fire Department arrived shortly after 3:00 PM Friday October 16 to Turnersville where a blaze destroyed three homes and severely damaged another. The Holder, Jones, and Humes houses burned completely while Mrs Pruitt's home suffered major damage. The fire spread from sparks as wind picked up, with the Sadler Gin and Grain Company moving cotton twice during the incident.
