The State Comptroller sent Clifton a check for 11 642 73 representing the city’s share of sales tax collected in the second quarter of 1971. This surpasses the first quarter 1971 payment of 6 964 92 and tops nearby towns with larger populations.
The WWI Barracks 1887 and Auxiliary will meet in the home of Mrs. Irene Tibbs in Valley Mills at 6:30 PM on October 26. A covered dish supper will be served. attendees are urged to come and enjoy themselves.
Students from third and fourth grade and the 4th period high school music class present a Veterans Day program on October 25 at 10 a.m. in Bettis Auditorium for students and the public. The program features readings from important documents and patriotic songs from America's past.
Drop Of Ink notes a full Connally crowd backing the Cubs Friday night. CHS Pep Squad and Band lead the atmosphere while a male cheering section from the B Squad adds deep voices. Fans’ enthusiasm energizes the home team and drew widespread praise.
Clifton High School Chorus will stage Tell It Like It Is a modern setting of God’s love in Bettis Auditorium on Tuesday Oct 26 at 7 30 p m A free will offering will be taken.
Clifton's P-TO announces the annual Hallo ween Carnival and Spaghetti Supper for Saturday October 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria and gym. Spaghetti costs 1.00 for adults and older students 75 cents for grades 1-5 and 50 cents for preschoolers. Activities include Spook House Grab Bag Fish Pond Sponge Throw White Elephant Sale Country Store Make-Up Booth Bean Toss Cake Walk Basketball Dart Throw and Bingo.
Two days of heavy rain dumped 6.75 inches in Clifton and pushed the Bosque River over banks from Clifton through Meridian Creek. The rising flood flooded Riverside Drive and the VFW building, washing away a butane gas tank. Officials reported all highways open by Wednesday morning.
Texas Parks and Wildlife representatives will be at the county courthouse in Meridian on November 3 4 and 5 to issue Special Antlerless Deer Tags to landowners in Bosque County. Deer season opens November 13 and runs to January 2 with a bag limit of two deer either sex. No special permit is required.
Clifton prepares to face Connally at Connally Stadium in Waco with a physical Cadets team led by Tack le defensive end Pete Morris and QB Bill Dunlap. Health updates show three Cubs ill but expected back Friday while Rickey Bakke remains improved. Clifton, ranked 34th in Class 2A, seeks a repeat of last week’s offensive surge against Midway.
The University Scholastic League assigned Clifton to District 22-AA with Hillsboro, keeping Clifton in double-A for two more years. Joshua moves to 2A while Clifton will face all other double-A rivals, including a new schedule with four non conference games and six district games starting September 7.

Public invited to Clifton City Hall dining room on October 28 from 1 to 4 PM for the Bosque County Home Demonstration Club Achievement Day. Door prize quiz singing and refreshments. Demonstrations by Mrs David Mayo and Miss Delmelia Dunn plus fabric displays and exhibits from Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home and the Senior Citizens group.
