Eight CHS Homecoming Queen Nominees Listed
Clifton High School lists eight Homecoming Queen candidates from all four classes chosen by the Cub football squad. Nominees are Helen Wiederaenders Ruthy Hoel Janice Willenberg Charlene Meyer Darlene Shipp Nellie Carr Claudale Kelly Delores Wagner. The winner will be announced at the halftime ceremony during the Clifton versus Glen Rose game Friday at 8 PM. A 5 to 7 PM turkey dinner precedes the game, followed by a Scribble Party and autographs. The 8 PM Homecoming Dance completes the weekend festivities at the Clifton National Guard Armory in Clifton City Park.

Joseph Helm Dies In Clifton Local Hospital
Joseph Lester Helm, longtime Clifton resident, dies at Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital at about 1 15 PM on Wednesday October 19. He was 57 years 9 months and 14 days old and had suffered a lingering illness requiring repeated hospital care. Funeral services were held October 20 at Clifton Funeral Home with interment in Clifton Cemetery.

Ronnie Swenson 14 son of Vernon Swenson of this city was seriously hurt last Sunday afternoon in a fall from a horse at the Swenson place near Clifton. Rescue Squad and a city patrolman found him unconscious above a branch about three quarters mile from home. Doctors removed his ruptured spleen after surgery at 12 30 Monday morning and he also suffered a badly bruised pelvis. He was reported to be improving Thursday morning.

Jackie Lee Cox seven year old of Cleburne died in Meridian hospital after being struck by a 1953 Ford driven by Frank M Torres Jr of Morgan. He started to cross from Thompson Garage to Carley Grocery Store and was hit by the front end. He died about an hour and a half after admission. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Cecil Cox of 209 Bryan Street. The family was visiting relatives in Morgan.
