E E Stewart, a Clifton golfer with a five stroke handicap, captured the first leg of the Dahl Trophy at the Clifton Golf Club in the 1960 tournament. The event drew about 15 players, with Stewart netting 213 over 54 holes to lead Gerald Rice 215, Jean Pierson 219, and Oren J Canuteson Jr 222. The Dahl trophies have four legs. if one golfer earns two, the cup stays with him, while four different players trigger a playoff for permanent possession.
