Clifton City approves 6% pay raise for employees
The Clifton City Council voted last week to grant city employees a six percent cost of living raise starting November 1. They also repaved a block of 11th Street and Avenue K, approved a larger water meter for Trinity Lutheran Church upon paying the difference, and approved funds for new street signs. Richard D. Lundberg, CPA, will perform the annual city audit for the third year. A building plan change for the airport air maintenance structure reallocates funds in a larger 100 by 178 foot building at a cost to offset a $187 increase. Catt Construction Co. received a $65,565 contract to construct the structure, leased to Schafer Aircraft Modifications, Inc. from Waco. Police uniform allowance changed to $20 per month from $100 twice yearly.

Clifton Officer Green Resigns Citing Better Pay
Officer Billy Green submitted his resignation Oct. 11 to take effect immediately. Police Chief Alvin James said Green will likely work in Dallas as a truck driver, leaving Chief James and Officer Steve Aston short on the Clifton force. The department seeks two certified officers to replace Green and former Officer Bobby Dodd Jr., who left Oct. 8 for private business in Waco. Green had previously attempted to resign July 8 for Steubenville, then stayed on until last week.

County workers awarded pay hikes by Commissioners Court
The Commissioners Court in Meridian approved retroactive salary increases for most county employees effective Oct 1. Key raises include the county judge from 8210 to 9425 dollars, clerk to 10075, sheriff to 10075, tax assessor collector to 10075 plus 260 auto titles, and several deputy positions.

CHS 32 Holds 45-Year Reunion at Clifton Civic Center
Clifton High School Class of 1932 held a 45th reunion at the Clifton Civic Center on Saturday. Activities included a 1:30 p.m. reception, pink and green decorations, a barbecue dinner, and a memorial service for deceased classmates. Sam Davis traveled from Cache, OK, and the group voted for a 50th reunion in fall 1982.
