Death of C M Stringfellow Mourned in Clifton Community

Bosque County mourns the death of C M Stringfellow age 71 5 months 11 days at a Clifton hospital after illness including pneumonia and asthma He drove a Clifton ISD bus for years and lived near Valley Mills Palestine and Clifton He is survived by wife four children two brothers one sister and eight grandchildren Funeral services were held at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend George Herrscher.

Clifton Homecoming Invitations Bring Ex-Students Back

Ex students from Clifton and surrounding area are urged to attend the CHS Homecoming events this Friday and Saturday. Juniors host informal coffee gatherings at local venues from 2 30 to 4 30 PM with class reunion meetings posted by graduation years. Friday features a turkey dinner, football game, Scribble Party and Homecoming Dance. Saturday includes queen announcements and presentations at 9 00 PM, with graduation year postings to help reconnect former classmates.

Cubs to stay in Class A for 1964 65 season

Clifton High School Cubs will remain in Class A Interscholastic League competition for 1964 and 1965. District 13 A will include Clifton Glen Rose Itasca Alvarado Joshua and Whitney with Whitney moving up to Class A. The six school district eliminates weekly open dates and places Clifton Whitney as the second week game, with Clifton trustees approving an open date the weekend of the fair for the next two years.

Mrs. Myrtle Cooper of Valley Mills has been a patient at Clifton hospital since October 15. Sam Samuelson of this city remains in the local hospital since October 12 with hopes of improvement. Mrs. Ed Kettler sent Clifton Record to her daughter Mrs. A E Carter in Killeen as a birthday gift. Mrs. W L Turner of Port Lavaca entered Clifton hospital on October 14 for a check up and remained hospitalized October 16. she is the former Miss Kate Hill of Clifton. Mr and Mrs Doyle J Borchers visited Dallas last Friday to attend SMU Navy game and hosted several of their son’s Navy classmates. he then attended the Texas-Oklahoma game before returning home.

Bosque County Farm Bureau names five new directors

The Bosque County Farm Bureau elected five new directors and one director at large at its October 15 meeting at Zion United Church of Christ in Womack. New directors Grady St Clair Trent Knudson Ho Reichert re elected Morris Wilkins Jr Morgan and W W McLennan Clifton plus Calvin Rueter named to a two year term east of the Bosque River.

Two Clifton Folks Involved In Wrecks

Two Clifton residents are injured in separate accidents around October 12. Woodrow Wayne Schneider from Route 1 Clifton suffered head and facial injuries in a head on collision northeast of Waco and recovered at home after a Providence Hospital stay. Richard Grimm of Dallas, passenger in the same wreck, was treated in Clifton and returned to Dallas. Mrs. Mary Taylor Gates of Clifton lost control on South Highway 6, slept, and her 1959 Ford overturned near Clifton. Olaf Omenson and Mrs Elmer Colwick visited Clifton. Oscar Omenson is ill in hospital.

Harvest Carnival Committees Named at Clifton Public Schools

Cubs and Alvarado clash in Clifton Homecoming game

Clifton High School hosts Clifton Cubs versus Alvarado Indians in the first district football game of 1963 at Cub Stadium starting 8:00 p.m. Clifton aims to celebrate Homecoming while Alvarado seeks its first district win after a 46 8 loss to Springtown. The teams feature roughly 175 pound starting lines.

Reicher handily shuts out Clifton Cubs 18 to 0 in Waco

Reich er swarmed Clifton as Steve Landon ran for 179 yards and all three touchdowns. Cubs misplayed punts and suffered four Clifton passes intercepted by Reicher, while Clifton's defense forced few stops. Clifton Junior High Clinches District Title in Football

Clifton Junior High School captured the district junior high championship by defeating Valley Mills 44 to 6 Tuesday, completing an undefeated season. The Juniors also beat Midway 22 8, Glen Rose 28 6, McGregor 20 0 and Lorena 28 14, with standout plays by Ronnie Dickerson and Louis Felan and strong defense from David Wilburn and C L Conrad.

Clifton cattle and grain prices from Thursday auction

Prices quoted Thursday morning show eggs at 33 cents a dozen for large, 28 cents for medium and B large, pullets 15 cents, grain at oats 80 cents a bushel and wheat around 1.85 to 1.60, and cattle market steady to strong with steers up to 23 dollars and hogs at 15.80. Approximately 600 head were offered at Wednesday's Clifton sale with calves, cows, bulls, and stockers priced across a wide range.
