A report from Bosque County Savings Bonds Committee chair Wm. B. Bertelsen shows August sales of United States Savings Bonds and Freedom Shares at $7,893, with January–August totaling $88,806, 44 percent of the 1968 goal of $209,000. Texas August sales rose 5.8 percent to $14,490,299 and January–August state sales reached $121,220,421, up 8.2 percent. National August sales were the best in 13 years, with January–August cash sales at $3,430 million, 62.3 percent of the national goal.
Pledging of 287 women at Texas Christian University was announced by Mrs. Jan Fleck, assistant dean of women, after rush week bids by the Panhellenic Council. Sally Ann Greenwade of Clifton is named as a pledge of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
The Meridian Jaycees host two top State Organization leaders Monday night at 8. Jack Borchers State Vice-President from New Braunfels will speak. Area Director Jay Diamond of Brownwood Clifton Jaycees will also attend. the meeting is at Meridian Fire Hall and open to guests.

Funeral services for Marvin Harvey of Clifton were held at Clifton Funeral Home with Rev. James Fields officiating. Interment followed at Meridian Cemetery. Harvey, born July 15 1886 in Breeding Kentucky, came to Texas in 1896 and lived in Clifton. he died Sept 15 at Clifton hospital at age 82 leaving a large family including six sons and four daughters with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
