La Wiks Pirates and Clitton clash in a district basketball showdown for the fat championship Friday night. The teams feature tall centers and strong defenses with Clifton chasing a third district crown while Vege eyes a balanced attack and a decisive win to advance.
The Presbyterian Church announces the arrival of Rev and Mrs Newton as pastors. Newton completes theological study soon after serving three years at Blain Texas church. Views and interviews will be held Sundays in morning and evening as the couple prepares to move in June.
A mid-November afternoon party honored Miss Tucker at the Robert Baldridge home in Bilgewood. Guests included Mrs. Jack Comifther and others as the guests signed a guest book while a hot spice fruit drink and cake were served.
The Clifton Lions Club plans a Monday gathering to sponsor entertainment for the Flower Carnival, with fundraising for the Red Cross drive and a county quota now doubled. Local chairmen urge all club members to support the effort, featuring Happy Cowan as guest and a community turkey dinner.

An old notice proclaims Parents Wives and Sweethearts Day at Camp Bowie on Sunday November 16 1941 for the 36th Division in Brownwood Texas. It urges Texas families to visit, meet officers and men, inspect barracks, chapels, hospital, stables, and training areas, and learn how the Army operates.
Final rites were held for Mrs. Elle Lacy 58 at the Coon Creek Church after her death from a heart ailment at her Clifton area home. The service was led by Rev. F E Weller of Whitney First Baptist. Interment was in Coon Creek Cemetery. Born December 18 1882 near Valley Mills she lived near Clifton most of her life. She married W G Lacy on December 10 1909 and had a daughter and a son. A longtime teacher, she was dedicated to Christian education and youth work in the community.
Clifton FFA members carry 26 poultry projects with over 1000 chickens amid disease concerns. Dr. M B Reese outlines post mortems and parasite control while James Matson discusses the Texas Baby Chick Association plan. County agent E B says 1942 will be critical for farmers due to scarce machinery parts and repairs. Defense Board urges early scrap and part sharing, notify dealers, and report needed parts to board or teachers.
Last Saturday November 1 a Golden Wedding celebration honored Mr and Mrs John E Swen with pastor readings about their long Christian marriage. Reverend W T Jigstad and Reverend E Thorson offered congratulations in Kuiston and Norse Texas communities. Attorney George W Anderson presided as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
Pete G Ilsing dies at Truscott Texas after a long life marked by residence in Clifton Cranfithe area and early marriage in the local church. The obituary notes a stroke months earlier and lists surviving relatives and community ties.
