Mrs. Oxwald Dies In Waco At 88

Mrs. Joe Oxwald, 88, of Waco route 70, died Tuesday in Waco. Funeral services are set for Thursday afternoon in Waco with burial in a local cemetery pending arrival of children. Surviving are her husband, Joe Oxwald. seven sons and daughters-in-law, including Lawrence, Own, Lowi, Gilmer, Woodrow of Waco, Robert of McGregor, B. B. of Fort Worth. three daughters Mrs Kraft of Waco, Mrs W T Hughes, and MD K Howard of Washington. Mrs Dick Trice and Mrs J W Hastin of Waco. Mrs Tillie Oxwald of Los Angeles. a brother Albert Ingram of Waco. numerous Clifton relatives attended. Born in McLennan County, she lived there all her life.

Hoff Completes Basic Army Air Corps Training

Burton Hoff, 28, son of Mr and Mrs Otin B Hott of Curton, completes 20 weeks of Army Air Corps pilot training at Maffett Field Flying School. He earned his wings and will receive a second lieutenant commission then report to an Air Corps defense unit or Army flying school. Hoff arrived Aug 18 after primary training at Hemet California. He is a Clifton High School graduate who lettered in football and accumulated 43 hours flying under the GAA program.

Mrs Will Lacy aged fifty eight died suddenly at her Clifton area home Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness. She had been in good health for some time but suffering a severe shock to her family and friends as the cause of death was sudden and unexpected. Jack Nabors, son of Mr and Mrs John Nabors near Clifton, is ordered to report November 6 to Braxton Flying Service Cuero Texas for seven and a half months initial phase of Army Air Corps enlisted pilot training. Nabors, topkick of 610th School Squadron at Goodfellow Field, will earn staff sergeant pilot rank with base pay of 108 dollars monthly. He is an 1940 Clifton High School graduate aiming to qualify as a pilot.

Bosque County AAA officials warn that wheat farmers who exceed 1942 allotments face losing full parity and conservation payments as well as loans. The deduction rate for excess wheat rises to ten times the 1941 rate, potentially wiping out all payments if excess exceeds ten percent.
