Clifton High School Band Heads to Region II Marching Contest

Clifton High School Band under Glen Judah will perform at the University Interscholastic League Region II Marching Contest in Bryan on Saturday. The 44 players and drum major Helen Wiederaenders join eight Class A bands including Franklin and Kerens. The group will meet at 6 15 am, drill practice precedes departure, and judging occurs at 11 40 am.

Vote Saturday On Amendments In Texas Constitution

Voters in Beaumont county will cast ballots Saturday November 9 from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on four proposed Texas constitutional amendments. Proposals include repealing poll tax voting, unifying four public welfare programs, creating Retirement Disability and Death Compensation Funds for Jefferson County subdivisions, and extending the Veterans Land program with 150 million dollars added to the fund.

Thursday morning prices from Clifton buyers show eggs at 33 cents per dozen for large, 28 cents for medium and B large, pullets 15 cents, cracks 12 cents. Grain lists oats, milling wheat 1.85 per bushel, spring wheat 1.60, barley 90 cents, rye 1.85 per cwt, yellow corn 1.25 per bushel. About 980 cattle offered. prices 50 cents to $1 lower. Steers and yearlings 21-23, calves 21-22.75, stocker steers 23-25.50, steer calves 24-26, cows 13-15.50, cows with calves 120-175. hogs 15-15.60. pecans 16-17 cents per pound.
