Clifton High School Class of 1941 schedules a reunion for November 11 and 12. Activities include a football game Friday night, a 9 a.m. breakfast Saturday at Downtown Restaurant, 4:30 p.m. meeting at the Civic Center, dinner out, then more visiting at the Civic Center.

Bosque County voters will cast ballots Tuesday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on seven proposed amendments to the Texas constitution including: expanding the Court of Criminal Appeals with eight judges, boosting Veterans’ Land Bonds to 700 million, bail rules for felons, tax relief for culture sites, cattle and farm producer associations and assessments, electronic funds transfers for banks, and restructuring the Judicial Qualifications Commission with expanded powers and new procedures.

Clifton artists James Boren and Melvin Warren win awards at the Cowboy Artists of America 12th annual show at the Phoenix Art Museum October 22 23. Boren takes the Colt Award and two silver medals for watercolor and gouache works inspired by local scenes. Warren earns a silver medal in drawing with a charcoal piece of longhorn cattle. The event drew about 2000 attendees. 1200 attended the awards banquet with Barry Goldwater master of ceremonies and John Connally speaker. About 75 artworks sold, grossing a record 450000.

Three Grass Fires Reported Near Clifton in One Day
Clifton Volunteer Fire Department responded to three grass fires in a single day on October 26. The blazes occurred one-half mile north, one and a half miles north, and five miles south of Clifton. Later the department stood by and washed down the highway after a pickup overturned near Farm Market Road 219 by the Cleng Peerson marker.
