Funeral services pending for Capt. Ralph Jr. in Clifton

Capt. Ralph H. Ralph Jr. 28 was killed May 17 1968 near Da Nang Vietnam while commanding a Marine unit. Born Oct 23 1940 in Groesbeck he earned honors at Clifton High and A&M University later marrying Jean Sanders in 1962. Survived by wife children parents and a brother, funeral to be announced upon body arrival.

Womack crash injures three motorists near Musselman’s store

Three people were treated for minor injuries after a pickup and sedan collided at the Musselman’s store intersection on FM 219 near Womack Monday morning. Ernest Carl Johle 82 drove the pickup. Betty Erickson Odom and her daughter Sheree were in the sedan. All were taken to Clifton hospital and later released. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Pelican Visits Meridian Inland Park

A lone white pelican stopped at Meridian State Park near Meridian for a night on the park’s lake. Park Attendant L C Cole noted the bird flew north at about 9 the next morning amid birdwatcher speculation it may be an old bachelor left behind from its group.
