Saturday evening, March 24, Clifton Lutheran College closed a difficult term marked by war. Despite lean attendance, Class Night showcased strong student talent led by Sylvia Nelson and Hilma Mickelson. Commencement added class member Ingvold Selstad, back from service, to receive a diploma as Rev H W Estrem urged faith and resilience.

United States to retain 700000 tons of German ships
President Wilson informed officials that the Paris council of four agreed the United States would keep the 700000 tons of German shipping seized in American ports since entering the war. Britain proposed pooling seized ships elsewhere, but the U S refused to participate.

Homecoming Concert Delights Audience with Vocal and Piano Solos

Government to Fight Tuberculosis in Cattle
The House Agricultural Committee reported an amendment to the agricultural appropriation bill for 1.5 million dollars to combat cattle tuberculosis. One million to pay for cattle to be killed under a cooperative plan with states, and 1.5 million to wage the disease battle, with one third losses borne by owners and one third by federal and state governments. An additional amendment calls for repealing the daylight saving law.

M P M Bryn of Cranfills Gap reports his son Private First Class Thorstein C Bryn of Company G 1443rd Infantry posthumously awarded the French Croix de Guerre. Eye witnesses say he single handedly silenced a nine man machine gun nest and pressed on despite a head wound until a fatal heart shot. His bravery brings honor to Bosque County and Texas.
