Lions Help to Finance Local Programs in Clifton 1968 69

Clifton Lions Club reports total contributions of 2105.59 for 1968 69 supporting the Texas Lions League for Crippled Children the Caravan for the Blind and local causes such as Boy Scout Troop Little League Clifton High School Band and Goodall Witcher Hospital Foundation Building Fund. Donations include 281.50 to crippled children 227.29 to the blind and 162.50 each to Scouts and Little League along with 202.00 to the Clifton High School Band.

Felony Indecent Exposure Filed Against Clifton Man

A 24-year-old Clifton man faces felony indecent exposure charges in Justice Court after a Meridian 13-year-old girl reported the incident. Police say the girl and two others were in a parked car when the man asked for directions and exposed himself as she approached his vehicle to help. Mother of the girl pressed charges following the report. County Attorney Leslie Vance commented.

Governor Signs New Law Changing School Children Transfer Method

Texas parents may transfer children between public school districts without moving residence under a new state law. The Texas Education Agency outlined the plan in a May 26 letter to superintendents. The act, passed by the 61st Legislature and signed by Governor Preston Smith on May 4, repeals a transfer method in place since 1925.

The Goodall-Witcher Hospital plans two new service units an Intensive Care and Post-operative Recovery Unit and a Cardiac Care Unit funded by Memorial Gifts. Memorial Day services sponsored by American Legion Post 322 and VFW Post 8553 will be held Friday morning at 9 at Clifton Cemetery. Mayor Cris Pierson will give greetings, Rev. Albert Petrich will deliver the address, and Taps will be played by Tim Outlaw with a firing squad salute.

Civic Discusses August Turkey Dinner at June Meeting

Civic Improve ment Society plans the 1969 Central Texas Fair turkey dinner to be served at Clifton City Hall at noon August 29. The June 1 meeting at 3 p m at the same site will finalize arrangements led by Mrs N W Willett Jr and committee with hostesses named. no July August meetings.
