71 Year Old and Granddaughter Charged With Shoplifting Here
A 71 year old great grandmother and her 20 year old granddaughter, both of Meridian, were arrested Friday for shoplifting under 50 dollars. They pleaded guilty in County Court and were fined 100 dollars each with 30 day jail terms, probated for one year. Items from Hoff Co Discount Center, Winns Variety Store, and Lormude’s Thrift Tee were recovered. The theft involved over 100 items placed in a diaper bag while the younger woman pretended to nurse a baby.

Cubs Nine clinches Bi-District title in 10 innings
Clifton’s Cubs defeated the Itasca Wampus Cats in a 10 inning playoff to earn a Bi-District berth. The game featured errors and solid plays with a Bases loaded miscue in the 7th inning nearly giving Itasca the win before Clifton pulled ahead. Mrs Wylie Pierce Jr of Clifton sustained a back injury in a freak one car crash about five miles east of Clifton on FM 219 at 810 p m Monday She remained in good condition at Goodall Witcher Hospital by late Wednesday The accident occurred when the accelerator allegedly stuck sending the 194 Chevrolet careening across the highway into a ditch then through trees and a fence into pasture She was transported to hospital by Clifton Funeral Home ambulance.
