Local social items from Crarfills Gap detail funeral services for Mrs. Rudolph Moon at First Lutheran, visits by Rohne, Suter, Peacock, and Troll families, hospital updates, a surprise in Eloise Giese’s honor, and memorials for F. O. Jones and Mrs. Buford Hollifield.
Erwin Wiederaenders, owner of Mermaid Swimming Pool in Clifton Texas, received a praise letter from the Sophomore Class secretary at McGregor High School dated May 16 1966. The note thanks him for courteous service on May 6 praising cleanliness of water, concession stand, and recreation facilities and says the class looks forward to returning.
Mrs. Ora La Verne Jermstad Hollifield 42 of 1605 North Eleventh Street Waco died May 22 in a Waco hospital. She was wife of Buford Hollifield and mother of Katherine Pryor. Survivors include her mother Mrs Hannah Jermstad Cranfills Gap and four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were May 24 at First Lutheran Church Waco with burial at St Olaf Rock Church Cemetery between Clifton and Cranfills Gap.
John B. Parks, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bruce Parks, spent several hours last Saturday on business and visiting with his parents while continuing work toward a veterinary medicine degree at Texas A & M University in College Station.
Mrs. Lola Barton says the Lanes Chapel Memorial Association will host the annual homecoming at Lanes Chapel Memorial Methodist Church near Clifton on June 5. The program starts 10 AM with music, prayer, and a short address, followed by singing, a noon basket lunch, and an afternoon of more singing until 4 PM. Water is unavailable, so attendees should bring water jugs and folding chairs.
Astros and Pirates will square off in the Astrodome from May 26 to May 29 in a pivotal five game set for NL second place behind the Giants. Night games Thursday and Friday, a split doubleheader Saturday, and a Sunday matinee. Kolonel Reds will perform after Saturday and Sunday games. Louisiana Day celebrations set for May 28 with bands and pre game ceremonies honoring Louisiana fans.

The Bosque County Unit of the American Cancer Society will hold its annual meeting at 7 30 p m next Tuesday May 31 in the Clifton City Hall dining room. Guest speaker will be Dr Lloyd Russell of Baylor University in Waco. The unit secretary Mrs Jake Seljos invites all to attend and see the unit in operation.
Mrs. N. M. Colwick now of Durant Oklahoma and a former Clifton area resident arrived last Saturday and remained until Tuesday as a guest.
The notice recalls Mrs. Colwick visiting her great niece Dianne Orbeck daughter of Mr and Mrs Dan FE Orbeck as she graduated from Clifton High School noting relations to Mr and Mrs Clarence M Colwick.
