Clifton High Class of 1973 Diploma Recipients
Forty seven members of Clifton High School Class of 1973 received diplomas at Bettis Auditorium in a May 23 ceremony. Honored included valedictorian Janie Conrad and salutatorian Lazane Smith with remarks by Judge Bryan McClellan and district officials. The Rev Thornburg delivered the baccalaureate sermon and urged disciplined, purposeful living with “Rules for the Road of Life.”

Congressman W R Poage praised rural America's qualities at a Kopperl School gym dinner honoring retiring Kopperl superintendent Truett Day. He lauded Day as a great civic leader who directed locals toward a better life and noted Bosque County retains strong community spirit. Day announced Larry Treadwell as his successor to take the helm in September.

Memorial Day Services Honor War Dead in Clifton Area
Memorial Day services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Clifton Cemetery with Rev. Ted Steenblock delivering the address. American Legion Selmer Anderson Post 232 and VFW Robert R. Bedford Post 8553 lead the observance, decorating 161 graves with flags before the service and firing volleys after the address.

Annual Junior Rodeo and Horse Show Plans Set
Plans completed for the second annual junior rodeo and fourth annual Quarter Horse Show sponsored by the Central Texas Fair Association. The Clifton Junior Rodeo runs June 7–9 at the local arena with age group events and high point buckles. The Quarter Horse Show follows June 9 with $100 high point prize and trophies, entry blanks day-of-show, judges and contact details provided. Proceeds benefit the Central Texas Fair set for August 30 to September 1.
