Three Clifton pastors Burns Pumphrey Kniit Will lead senior class baccalaureate at 8 pm Sunday in Bettis Auditorium Clifton High School. Reverend Burns to deliver sermon with ties to previous Guthes church. other clergy noted. Many 1965 seniors listed as participating or attending, with public invitation extended to both services and commencement.

Hill College Benefit Concert Raises 309 Dollars

Hill College stage a charity concert for Alvin Spitzer Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs Spitzer of Clifton. The student suffered serious burns from a lab explosion and remains in hospital after skin grafts. His family visited Galveston and College Station during treatment.

County Receives Over 100000 From License Sales

Bosque County records show after commissions the county treasury received 100500.33 and the State Highway Department 51156.11 from 1964 registration receipts. A total of 8161 receipts were issued for that period. The 1957 registrations brought the county 447.54 and the state 29750.272 from 6823 receipts. Bosque County notes growth in vehicles and revenue with 1964 breakdown listing passenger cars trucks and pickups trailers and motorcycles.

District 13 A Baseball Finals Postponed

District 13 A baseball finals delayed after coaches cited scheduling conflicts and unresolved matchups. Custer High School remains the winner of the winners’ bracket and will face either Clea Rose lentesa of Alvareda High or another finalist as plans finalize.

Clifton High Twirlers Selected From Tryouts

Clifton High School drum major Lavonne Regen and six twirlers were chosen from ten candidates in a Tuesday tryout. Recipients include Kathy Collins as head twirler and Bonnie June Stan Geter, Janet Holder, Vick Outlaw, Marshall, and Anita Wallace.

William W Darden 62 Meridian Dies at Clifton Sunset Home

Funeral services for William W Darden 62 of Meridian were held May 1 at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Walter Gigstad officiating. Interment followed in Meridian Cemetery. Darden a resident of Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home since January 12 died May 14 at Clifton hospital after illness starting May 5. He was born November 13 1882 on a farm between Clifton and Meridian. Survived by son Enema Withrow Scottedale Arigna two nephews and several relatives.

Austin Wedding Reported for Mr and Mrs Ted Evans

Mr and Mrs Ted B Evans attended a wedding in Austin the prior weekend. On Friday night and Saturday they were present for the ceremony of Robert Harris in the chapel of the University Methodist Church. The groom is the son of Dr and Mrs Weldon W Harris of Austin, with family ties to Mr Evans and Mrs Harris.

CHS Band Parents Elect New Officers Here Monday Night

Clifton Parents Association members elected new officers for the 1965-66 year at a Monday Band Hall meeting. Secretary treasurer Mrs Allan Dorsey reported $374.20 in the general fund and $547.95 in the uniform fund, with a net Pancake Supper profit of $205.09. A nominating committee submitted a slate led by Evans Swenson as president and Charles Morton as vice president, elected by acclamation.

Clifton Whitney's Sold to Iraan Couple Reopens as Smith's

Mrs B W Whitney and son Mark sold Whitney's in Clifton to Mr and Mrs HOC Smith of Iraan. The store reopened Monday as Smith's with Mrs Whitney as manager. The Smiths plan to move to Clifton and run a jewelry clothing and gift shop, with future formal opening. Whitney remains assistant manager.

Clifton Gauge Records 7.20 Inches Rainfall in Bosque Basin

Clifton official gauge shows 7.20 inches of rainfall since the last report with a 12.50 inch total for the week. Bosque River rose to 26 feet by 5 PM Sunday, flooding farms near Clifton Meridian and forcing a short road closure. Tank washouts were reported on Carl E Olsen farm and Mrs Edwin Nichols route, with undermined Fred Hall tank near Valley Mills. May rainfall dates indicate variable totals through May 14 to May 19.

Hancock Motors Buys Oldsmobile and Pontiac Franchise

Ross Hancock through Hancock Motors purchases the Pontiac and Oldsmobile dealerships from E. V. Stevens in Bosque County. The new dealer moves cars and equipment from South Highway 6 to North Highway 6 while Stevens continues other interests. A formal purchase announcement is planned for next week in the Record.

Cowans Plan Move from Clifton to Waco in June

Mr and Mrs Warren Cowan will relocate from Clifton to Waco on June 1. Cowan has worked in the Texas Highway Department resident engineer office in Waco since January 1 and commuted from Clifton, where he previously worked in the same office. They bought a home at 315 North Avenue in Waco from Mr and Mrs Tomie Joe Harris.

Sam Nystel Services Held In Cranfills Gap

Funeral services for Sam Alfred Nystel 70 were held at the First Baptist Church in Cranfills Gap. Interment followed at Cranfills Gap Cemetery. Nystel died May 1 in Meridian hospital after prior treatments in Fort Worth and St Joseph's. He was born February 16, 1895, in Harmony near Clifton and married Maggie on August 1, 1915.

Aug ust H Spitzer 89 of Route 1 Meridian died at 1115 PM Sunday May 16 in Clifton hospital after illness since May 10 He was born December 13 1875 near Brenham and lived near Clifton farming Bosque County most of his life He and Emma Halle married December 2 1897 The couple moved to Garnersville in 1907 retiring from farming They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1947 Mrs Spitzer died May 29 1963 He later lived with daughter Mrs A C Nivin in Meridian then Luther Hall at Sunset Home before hospital treatment

Albert Casey's Texaco Service Station at the corner of F 6 and 219 in Clifton lost nine tires last Saturday night after entry through a window and the wash rack. Chief Zack Kidwell reported no arrests by Tuesday afternoon. theft occurred between 8 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
