One-Car Crash Injures Two Near Lanham Boro
Highway Patrol reports a one vehicle crash Monday near Lanham Boro involving Walter Leck and Helen Petty who overturned after a sharp curve. Both were hospitalized briefly with non serious injuries before being released. Leslie Fricke of Ingleside visited Clifton and Meridian while in town to see relatives including Alex Fricke of Trenton Michigan and Dock Martin of Meridian.

Arnold Brandes Dies Here After Long Illness
Clifton resident Arnold Carl Brandes 75 years 3 months 28 days died at 7:45 Sunday morning May 12 in Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital. He lived at 303 South Avenues, had been in failing health for four years and seriously ill for at least two. he had resided in Clifton most of his life and worked in banking farming and as a dealership operator. He married Eva Mjaaland in 1922. no children survived. He and his wife ran the Brandes Plant and Flower Shop as a hobby.

Relatives mourn the death of Thomas C. Nystel of Glen Rose who died May 9 at Santa Anna Hospital after illness. The Bosque County Medical Society urges residents to receive the Type I oral polio vaccine at nine clinics this Sunday. Clifton’s National Guard Armory will host a noon to 3 30 or 4 PM session, with schools in Meridian Valley Mills Iredell Crawfish Gap Kopperl Morgan Walnut Springs and Mosheim also operating during similar hours. Types I and III vaccines aim to prevent the most severe poliomyelitis forms. a free will offering is optional as volunteers staff the clinics.

At its first post election meeting the Clifton board re elected all current faculty and approved raises for Superintendent Kent Appleby and three coaches. An additional teacher, Larry Langston, will join math and science staff, with Langston coming from the Texas Highway Department. A $10 driver education fee and a $3 lab fee were approved. a music instrument and typing course fee were discussed but not adopted. The 1963-64 calendar was set to be published after this year ends.
