Catfish Fray Highlights Bosque County Gathering
In Smith Bend and Clifton area a fish fry featured RC Womack of Waco and Sexborn Chapp Mourton bringing two catfish catches from the Brazos River. The larger catch weighed about 73 pounds with fish averaging 45 pounds. Relatives and neighbors helped fry the catch in a large wash pot using 22 pounds of lard. Local editor and family noted irrigation work near Frank Peacock’s land and commented on Bosque County’s potential as a premier Central Texas agricultural spot. Several residents, including Kurt Philipp and R P Onstott, shared the feast after a week of community activity and visits from friends and relatives.
