The Norwegian Society of Texas plans a Sunday program to honor Norse history and Cleng Peerson. A Dallas bus departs 8 30 a m for Our Savior's Lutheran Church Norse arriving 10 45 a m. Services by Rev. Lawrence Jenson, noon cemetery rites, flag parade, Norse Singers. Pot luck at 12 45 p m. Return bus 2 p m to Bosque Memorial via Cleng Peerson Memorial Highway, arriving Dallas at 4 p m.

Clifton Reports First Traffic Death In Two Years
Clifton recorded its first traffic fatality in more than two years when 76-year-old Hertha Smith Randle of 403 South Ave E died Friday after a two-vehicle crash at 300 South Ave G and West 1th Street. Randle’s car and Lonnie Earl Hunter’s 1969 tractor trailer were attended to by Clifton Funeral Home ambulances. Hunter and his 15-year-old stepdaughter Linda Fullerton sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized.

Electric rates rise in 16 communities served by CPS
CPS hike, approved by city councils in 16 communities except Gatesville, would raise bills by about 17 percent for most Gatesville customers and up to 35 percent for some. CPS filed suit in Gatesville seeking injunctive relief to enforce the rate plan amid rising power costs and a 14.03 percent rise in power supplier charges.
