Clifton High School Class of 1976 Diploma Night

Clifton High School awards diplomas to 38 seniors at 8 p.m. Monday in Bettis Auditorium. Commencement features include salutatorian Charlies Pat Reeder and valedictorian Michael Tod Outlaw, with address by Kent Appleby and music by the CHS Senior Choir and pianist Patsy Lancaster.

Two Sisters Injured In Weekend Car Crash

Police report two sisters Barbara Ellen Brown aged 18 and Brenda K Brown aged 14 were injured when their 1970 two door hardtop car hit a tree in the 400 block of South Ave 6 at 2 08 a m. Barbara suffered head lacerations and Brenda hand injuries both were treated at Goodall Witcher Hospital Foundation in Clifton and released.

Rotary scholarship winners named for Bosque County

The Bosque County Clifton Rotary Club announces two 200 scholarship recipients. Vicky Jenson of Cranfills Gap High School class of 1976 and Karen Wiederaenders from Clifton High School will each receive funds to further education. Scholarships funded by the county talent show held last April.

Clifton seniors hold baccalaureate with aria and prayers

The baccalaureate at Bettis Auditorium features a grand march from Aida and Bach anthems with CHS groups. Rev Teichmiller delivers the sermon and Benediction, amid music and hymns. Clifton schools announce final exams Friday and Monday with 3 pm dismissals and stamped envelopes for report cards. Class of 1976 senior trip to New Orleans concludes with chaperones listed.

Clifton High roof repair to be done at no charge

K A Sparks Construction Co will repair Clifton High School roof pro bono as the original roofer is out of business. CISD trustees will receive letters absolving Sparks of future liability and pursue delinquent taxes totaling 18 892 45 for 1949 through 1974.

Reward Offered In Gap High School Burglary Case

A $400 reward is offered by Crawfills Gap school board and business community for information leading to arrest and conviction of those who stole $2,000 worth of shop equipment from Gap High School's vocational agriculture department. The incident occurred May 10. Notify Bosque County Sheriff John O Baxter or Superintendent Paul Boswell.

Sedan hits fence along Farr Market Road

A 1973 four door sedan sustained moderate damage after crossing a fence on Farr Market Road 1637 Thursday evening about a half mile from the McLennan County line at 11 10. Driver George Robbins Route 11 China Spring was uninjured, according to Trooper Acey Steel of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

CHS Class of 1925 Reunion Planned for September 18

Clifton High School alumni from the class of 1925 will hold their 51st anniversary reunion at the Clifton Civic Center on September 18. Clyde J. Duke invites all other class groups to participate and join in a bicentennial style gathering beginning at 9:30 am and ending when attendees are ready to leave. The plan aims to reunite friends seen after 30 to 50 years and fill the Civic Center hall.

Wiether Family Walks 10 Miles for Missions

Clifton mother Mrs. Roberts and her daughters Sandy and Donna joined 23 Hillsboro United Pentecostal Church members on a 10 mile March for Missions from Peoria to near Interstate 35. Sandy raised 101 dollars while Donna and Mrs. Roberts contributed 100 each. The group thanked Clifton Crawfills Gap Laguna Park and Valley Mills sponsors and concluded with burgers. Close to 1000 dollars was raised for missions.

Cranfills Gap Class of 1976 Graduation Planned

Cranfills Gap High School will hold graduation events next week with a Sunday 8 p.m. baccalaureate at the CGHS gym. The Rev. John Jordan will deliver the sermon and the commencement is set for 8 a.m. Thursday May 27 at the gym. The Rev. Clifford Atwood will give the commencement address. Valedictorian is Karl Moore with a 95.6 GPA and salutatorian is Vicky Jenson with a 900 GPA. Biographical sketches of graduates will appear in Clifton Record.

Clifton Considers Part Time Humane Officer

City officials weighed a part time humane officer to enforce the leash law while cautioning finances. Mayor Smith pressed for enforcement, with fines up to 209 dollars for violations and a plan to follow dogs to homes for on the spot citations. The council also discussed speed limit changes on Farm Market Road 219 and State Highway 6.

City approves $1250 for summer recreation program

Clifton area approves a $1250 summer recreation program for eight weeks. Donald Hennig, CISD athletic director and head football coach, will operate with $1000 pay and $250 for expenses. Last year 126 children attended. this year uses volunteers to reduce costs and may reuse CISD facilities.
