Skeet Shoot and Barbeque at Valley Mills Range Sunday

A shoot and barbecue supper are planned for Sunday May 5 at the Valley Mills Gun Club range on Highway 6 near the Neilson place. The range opens at 1 pm and barbecue starts at 6 pm. Plates cost $1.25, and advance meal tickets are sold by club members. The event welcomes the public.

Local Students Win Medals in UIL Competition

Area Riders Sweep All School Prize at FFA Rodeo

Area riders dominated the two day FFA Rodeo earning top spots across events. Don Kimmel led bull riding with DeLeon taking first, while Judson Loupe from Bry and Tom Ray from Temple followed in the standings. Rusty White and Don McKinney also posted high finishes in bronco riding and roping, with Clifton and Cleburne riders collecting multiple medals in barrel racing steer saddling and goat tying.

CHS Bard Earns Highest UIL Contest Rating

Clifton High School band won first division in both concert and sight reading at the UIL contest in Waco Hich School. The CHS Band was one of only two Class A bands to receive the top rating from judges.

Dahl Trophy Tournament Opens This Weekend in Clifton

Clifton's Dahl Trophy Golf Tournament for club members starts this weekend with 36 holes over two days, ending Sunday May 19. Golfers must post 18 holes to qualify, with handicaps listed for May 1968 and prize balls for top finishers. The event begins the first leg toward permanent possession of the Dahl Trophy, donated by H A Turkey Dahl of Beverly Hills.

Donkey Ball Saturday Promises Thrills and Spills

Clifton Jaycees promote a Donkey Basketball game on Saturday May 4 at the Clifton gym. Faculty members from Clifton High School are expected to ride the donkeys with Coach Aubrey Roberts absent for the State Track Meet. Gates open 8 p.m. Admission costs 1 for adults 75 cents for students 50 cents for elementary students and free for preschoolers.
