Clifton High School marks its Mardi Gras themed junior senior banquet and prom on Thursday April 30 in the cafeteria. Senior and Junior classes plus faculty, with spouses, are escorted in by Sophomore girls as Brent Standefer presides, Charles Walker speaks, and Helen Wiederaenders thanks the organizers.

Local families welcome three newborn girls Bar bara Mary Penny Lynne and Susie and a son Walter Robert I born in April and May 1964 at Clifton hospital. Prom night at the National Guard Armory featured elaborate décor and music by the Royal Kings. The Junior Class arranged a New Orleans trip theme since seniors won t visit New Orleans this year.

In Bosque County voters cast 3,203 ballots in the Democratic primary while 93 voted in the Republican primary. John Connally led statewide governor totals with over a million votes. Ralph Yarborough and Gordon McLendon battled for second. County races saw Earl Behringer top J L Lundberg for Tax Assessor and-Collector, Andy Nutt defeating Dickenson for County School Superintendent, and J E Ward leading State Representative race but falling short of a majority. County precinct results record varied tallies across Johnson, Somervell, and Bosque.

Two Clifton Residents Hurt in Auto Collision on Highway 22
Mrs. Eddie Parks Martin, Clifton Public Schools teacher, and L. Jay Brooks, manager of Artistic Floral and Gift Shop, were injured in a crash about 5:45 PM on May 1 near Whitney on Highway 22. Their 1964 Pontiac collided with an Oldsmobile driven by Mrs. Frank Taylor. the station wagon rolled several times. Both were hospitalized with multiple injuries. Mrs. Taylor unhurt.

Don Humphries to Return Home This Week End
After nearly three months in Providence Hospital Waco Don Humphries will return to his Clifton home this week end likely Saturday. He had final surgery April 27 and is progressing well from injuries suffered February 13 when struck by lumber at the Wilson Building Materials Co Inc.

Clifton High School Band earned Region II Class A Sweepstakes for the second consecutive year after first division ratings in marching concert playing and sightreading at the Marlin contest. Buck Carpenter Dies in Electrocution at Home Site
W F Buck Carpenter Jr 32 of 714 North Avenue F Clifton was electrocuted about 530 PM Tuesday May 5 while helping raise an antenna for his brother in law C W Patterson. His sons James and Floyd were nearby with minor shocks Gerald Carpenter held his father until EMS arrived. He died at Clifton Hospital after over an hour of treatment. He left six children and was a carpenter and church member. He enjoyed fishing hunting and family gatherings.
