118 Attend 11th District Legion Convention in Clifton
One hundred eighteen members of the American Legion and Auxiliary of the 11th District gathered at the National Guard Armory Clifton for their spring convention. Judge Frank G. McDonald spoke. Harold Cooper attended with his wife Mrs. Cooper. The post received a gold certificate for its high membership 157 and a resolution opposing VA hospital closures was approved for sending to lawmakers. The fall convention will be in Temple in October.

Clifton Public Schools aims to stage Visions In Verse with more than 200 first through fourth grade students. Lions Convention in Waco Names District Queen
Lions from District 2X3 held a two day convention at Westview Rollercade and Holiday Inn in Waco where Sheron Larson represented Clifton Lions in the district queen contest. Michele Myers of Athens Lions Club won the district title and will compete in Odessa on June 14 with the state winner earning a trip to Toronto. Delegates also elected district officers and adopted constitutional changes with Dr. Eggen named deputy district governor at large.

County Stops Wolf Bounty After Court Vote
Bosque County Commissioners Court voted to end the $40 bounty on wolves starting June 1 after hearing about the wolf problem from a Texas Game and Fish Commission representative. The court will hire a professional trapper next year to reduce livestock damage. The county paid over $4,000 in 1962 and $3,000 in 1963 in wolf bounties, yet wolves reportedly increase.

Three Car Collision Near Valley Mills Injures Several
A three car crash at 11 45 last Sunday night on Highway 6, 1.2 miles north of Valley Mills, left multiple people injured. Jorge Ruiz and Armando Velarde, both Texas A M students from abroad, were in the Ruiz car which swung into the oncoming 1963 Ford driven by Robert Spitzer of Dallas. Spitzer and his wife were injured, as was Nina Alsup Chapman in the third car. All occupants received treatment. Ruiz remained at Clifton hospital before transfer to A M Hospital.

Forty nine Clifton High School Band members will travel by school bus around 12:30 PM to the University Interscholastic League Region III Playing and Sightreading Contest at Marlin High School gym. They perform Coat of Arms Concert March, Ceremony for Winds, and Second Symphony for Band.
